0 files successfully renamed, 1666 files failed on Vista

I have been using your program with great success on Windows XP, now have it installed and can't get it to work.

What I am doing is using WebRipper to rip pdf files from a server and when it does it puts 1- in front of all the files.

So I setup a simple delete of the 1st 2 characters and it apply's to the entire folder of files. When I tell it to rename
I get the error 0 files successfully renamed. 1666 files failed to rename!  State column shows green check and red X

Is the program itself not compatible with Vista?

Is there some security that is blocking the rename process I can shut off??

Thanks!!
Stacy

How about a screenshot of the failed rename process so we can see if you've specified something wrong or not?

Re: 0 files successfully renamed, 1666 files failed on Vista

It might be a problem with priveleges rights or files locking.
Even on XP you will get similar results if system or other application will not allow to rename file(s).
But if you can rename these files manualy (with Windows), then such behaviour of ReNamer is strange.

Regular Expressions are not as hard to understand as you may think. Check ReNamer's manual or nice Regular Expressions tutorial for more info and start to use full power of applications that use them (like ReNamer, Mp3Tag and so on).

Yes, this is most probably the security/permissions issue...

Right-click on the folder that you are renaming the files too, select 'Properties' -> and uncheck 'Read-Only'.... (if it's checked), had the same problem on Vista... this fixed it.
