Lid notifications seem to be working fine and I will be able to add it as an event.
That's great news, thanks! I hope you're planning to add both lid close and open events?

Yes, of course
I'll post here when it will be ready for testing.

Hi all,
Are all laptops equipped to generate this event?
I am asking this because my Acer laptop does not do anything if I close the lid (such as turning off the display).
For all I know, it may well be there, but I have not configured it.
So how do we check whether this event is provided in a given laptop?

Software requirement for Shutter to be able to capture this event is Windows Vista or later version. Hardware requirement is unknown, but I'm fairly certain that all laptops would have this function.
You can adjust the lid closing action in the Power Options from Control Panel.

Thanks, looking forward to it!

As far as I know it's a hardware event and all Windows versions after XP are able to detect it, as also Linux. You can go into Power Options as Denis mentioned and set what you want the computer to do on lid close, such as sleep, hibernate and so on.

The Lid events seem to work just fine! Thanks a lot Denis, this will enable many more creative uses for Shutter.
