When using the extension setting rule - “detect using binary signature”, it fails to recognize mhtml files. Even though the type is clearly labeled at the beginning of the HTML code.

I don't see how it is clearly labeled at the beginning. MHTML uses MIME format (just like emails), so there is no apparent way of distinguishing between MHTML and other MIME files.

Just checked, and even TrID identifies it as .EML, i.e. E-Mail message (Var. 2). As Denis said, .MHT clearly states inside that "This is a multi-part message in MIME format."
