Extend filtering to file contents

A huge improvement (and maybe not difficult to implement) would be having the possibility of using ReNamer not only for changing file/folder names, but also file contents.
I would have used such a feature tens of times if I had it...

I don't think this is such a great idea at all, since that's not what the program's meant for. In any case, what exactly do you want ReNamer to be capable of doing to a file's contents?

To be able to apply the same huge power that ReNamer has on file names also to strings inside the file.

Re: Extend filtering to file contents

First, there is the issue of formatting. All files except the *.txt files have embedded control characters. If these are disturbed, the file will become unusable. (In fact, the native application may be checking each file for some sort of integrity before opening it, and it may reject the file if it does not meet those rules.)

Having said that, there is a dedicated powerful free utility called TextCrawler for such bulk text find-and-replace operation. It also supports RegEx. Try it!
