How to prevent sleep while it monitors the processor?

Hello,
I'm running some 3d renders and I'd like the computer to sleep only after the render is finished. Si I set as event : when CPU usage is below 25%, and as action : Sleep. The problem is that during this rendering, there is no mouse or keyboard interaction, so the Windows 7 power saving plan will put the PC to sleep after one hour. Is there a way for Shutter to prevent the PC from going to sleep?
Thanks
David

Re: How to prevent sleep while it monitors the processor?

Windows sleep itself has a built-in function to prevent sleeping when a certain task/process is running.

Re: How to prevent sleep while it monitors the processor?

Hello Narayan, could you tell me where to find this function on Windows 7 pro 64 bits?
I modified the power saving plan and set it to sleep after 2 hours, then I re-launched the Shutter monitoring, and now all is fine, the PC doesn't go to sleep during my 3d render. I'm wondering if Shutter has a built-in function to prevent sleeping while it monitors the processor, or is it Windows "forgetting" to put the PC to sleep after 2 hours?

I am sorry I do not recall the details now, but Win7 has advanced settings for overriding the default 1 hour limit, and I saw several threads on the subject.

Re: How to prevent sleep while it monitors the processor?

Hello Narayan
Yes Windows 7 has such settings, but I beleive you can only set the time before it goes to sleep, there is no processor activity dependant settings as far as what I've found.
I run another 3d render, without shutter running, and the PC went to sleep after a while. So I don't thing Windows 7 "forgets" to send the PC to sleep, it did sleep after 2 hours. Which leads to thing there is something inside the Shutter code that prevents Windows from sleeping, which is very nice. But I'd like to have a confirmation from the developper.
Cheers
Gz

Re: How to prevent sleep while it monitors the processor?

Ooooooops, another test, this time with Shutter running, and the PC went to sleep after 2 hours, just like I set it in Windows. So it appears Shutter DOES NOT prevent the PC from sleeping when running. Pretty annoying. What can I do for that??

Try Process Lasso. It has this feature.

Re: How to prevent sleep while it monitors the processor?

Hi,

What about turning off Windows Sleep and use Shutter to Sleep PC when render is finished?

I use it this way to prevent sleep while downloading overnight. I monitor certain processes so it won't go to sleep if it's recording TV.
