Renamer 3.20 Access violation

Just installed 3.20 on top of 3.05. Unfortunately it shows access violation and then regular renamer interface shows up. I reinstalled 3.20 again. (Be removing from add.remove) The same result. I installed old 3.05 on top of 3.20. Voi la. No more access violation.

Apparently something is wrong. EXE file only works. (No access violation) What does this installer do? Just create a folder and copy files?  Does it install some dlls to windows system32 folder? V3.05 installer had no problems, by the way. Have you changed something?

Re: Renamer 3.20 Access violation

When exactly do you get the Access Violation error: in Installer, or in ReNamer?
Are you sure that version 3.20 was successfully installed, maybe it couldn't overwrite the previous version (locked files)?
Try using the Archived (ZIP) version, and unpack it to a different location... Tell me how it went, ok?

Installer does exactly the same thing as you did with the archive - it unpacks a single ReNamer.exe into a folder that you specify (as well as some uninstallation data which is stored in the same folder), except it works like a wizard - for newbies smile

ReNamer is a standalone application, only 1 file is required to run it - which is "ReNamer.exe". All its settings it stores in the "ReNamer.ini" in the same directory as the executable. I haven't changed anything in the installer, it is exactly the same as for v3.05, except the ReNamer executable is updated.

Try the Installer again, but try installing to a different folder, tell me how it'll go for you, ok?

Re: Renamer 3.20 Access violation

Just installed 3.20 on top of 3.05. Unfortunately it shows access violation and then regular renamer interface shows up.

I am new to ReNamer, with final version 4.0 installed. Shockingly easy to use compared to other files I have struggled with! But upgrading to, and then launching, version 4.1 gives me the same MEMORY Access Violation message at address ------, that you have reported, so I have gone back to version 4.0.

Re: Renamer 3.20 Access violation

I can not reproduce your problem, but there is something that you can do to help me solve it! I've compiled a special version for debugging, which will generate a bug report whenever your error occurs. It will give you a choice of mailing it to me or saving it. I will need that information in order to help you.

Here is the debug version: ReNamerDebug.zip. Waiting for your response...

I have just tested ReNamer v4.10 (both archive and installer) on 2 platforms: Windows 98SE and Windows XP SP2. It works flawlessly!
