Rename files on Web Folder / FTP

Using a standard linux host, I'm able to setup a Web Folder in Windows XP using the following as the address:  https://[my_domain_name].com:2078/

That makes my files at that host accessible via Windows Explorer.  I was hoping to be able to use ReNamer to rename files there.  Attempting to drag and drop them into ReNamer gives  the gives the no-can-do ghostbusters symbol.  I've tried the preset links methods as well, but also to no avail.

Is there a way to get this to work, or would it require development?

Re: Rename files on Web Folder / FTP

In case it helps others, I got around this by installing Novel Netdrive - a freeware application that allows you to map Web Folders and FTP sites to drive letters.  I'm currently uploading it to my freeware site MissingBytes.net in the Disk Tools section.

Re: Rename files on Web Folder / FTP

I can confirm this one. I used NetDrive to map FTP to a drive several times - works great!

Also, for Windows users, you can use Windows File Sharing. ReNamer can handle network paths, e.g. \\DOMAIN\Folder\File.ext
