hi, i have been using your Renamer for many years. Great.
den4b: why not create such a txt program??
notepad++ work with regex but regex code are not easy... it would be nice to be able to use a program similar to Renamer to edit the txts...
can it be done? or can anyone on this forum advise me on any program that does this?
thank you, greeting everyone!

Have you tried the Analyze dialog in ReNamer?
https://www.den4b.com/wiki/ReNamer:Analyze
It doesn't have any fancy features of a text editor, but it allows you to apply your renaming rules to any arbitrary text.
There are also options to apply your renaming rules to the Clipboard content.

very useful, thank you.
and no, never tried before because no such entry is present in the submenus of your program. if you had not indicated the link here i would never have known that pressing Shift+A opens the Analyze tool window !!
that's what i needed.
a program like this "Analyze tool" aside would be great, really useful that would allow you to bypass boring regex for np++

I hope you create a txt editing program with functions like in Analyze tool.
it would be a really nice move towards regex complexes and i think it would be a remarkable success, if well publicized as Renamer that everyone knows by now!

It is hiding in plain sight!
There is a button, and it is also found in the Options menu, labelled "Analyze sample text".

It is unlikely. But there is a plan to implement command line options for applying renaming rules to any arbitrary text. This should allow an easy integration of ReNamer's features into almost any text editor.
