Feature Request: Add Preset as a Rule

So sometimes I want to use parts of a preset or an entire preset in tandem with some other rules i've set up, but there is no good way of doing this.

So there is the append option, but you cant specify where in the rule list it should add those rules, it just sticks them on the end.

I can duplicate the preset and add the new rules to it, but this makes it hard to merge two presets easily.

So one possible solution would be to be able to select and move whole chunks of rules up and down.  Eg you would select a few rules, and then pressing the up or down button would move all of them together.  Another solution would be the option to group rules together and then move them as a group.

A great option would be able to add presets AS rules.. as sort of nested objects..... it would keep your rule list neat.. you could move it easily.. and you could change things specifically in each preset and it would flow through to other presets.

What do you think?

Re: Feature Request: Add Preset as a Rule

I think all of that sounds good!

Adding presets as a dynamic rule has been on the todo list for some time now, but at a low priority.

However, being able to move around several rules at once is defiantly a high priority. It should get implemented fairly soon, and an update will be posted here.

P.S. If you are really stuck with some large presets, you could merge the preset files manually using a text editor. Just keep in mind that the "[Rule]" section names must be unique.

The ability to move around multiple selected rules at once has been implemented in ReNamer 7.0.0.1 Beta.

Re: Feature Request: Add Preset as a Rule

I didnt realise my registration had expired and I wasnt running the latest version and am still in 6.9. I just re-registered. Glad that you implemented moving multiple rules, but I still would love having presets as rules...  at the moment im resorting to just using heavier and heavier pascal scripts instead, and sometimes even integrating external code like AutoHotKey, just because it makes changing complex rule sets easier than having to re-combine a whole bunch of presets

Re: Feature Request: Add Preset as a Rule

Welcome back!

This feature is still on the list. There is no ETA unfortunately, but it is slowly moving up the priority list.
