Hi everybody,
Apologies if this has been answered...
When making "Add folders", a window named "Browse" opens and all the folders are mixed with no order : it is very hard to find the required folder.
Can you friendly tell me the workaround to have an alphabetically sorted list ?
Regards.

Hi Nam, welcome.
When making "Add folders", a window named "Browse" opens
and all the folders are mixed with no order : ....
I on my own can't confirm this behaviour. Tested with several betas since 5.10, and with 5.10 itself also on XP.

That should be the standard
That Denis can better help you, it's not bad to provide a few info about your system:
* ReNamer 5.10 from 12 Oct 2007, no "beta" version ?
* Operation System: Windows ..xyz. ?
* The sorting in WinExplorer is alphabetically?

I think that "Settings > General > Use natural order" doesn't help here. I mean this is for the list of files to be renaming? Don't be sure...

Thanks Stefan !
I use final ReNamer 5.10 on Windows 98 SE + IE 6.
In Explorer, folders are alphabetically ordered : in parent folder "Arrange Icons" "by Name".
The "Add Files" window which is WINDOWS default, works just fine...
"natural order" don't help...
Have found identical problem on another renamer : I think it's a bad linking with Win98 SE, have gone to another proggy.
Friendly regards.

Hi Nam
This is due to the way in which my "Add Folders" dialog work. It's not a standard windows dialog, as you already guessed. Usually, programmers use Shell API for calling dialogs which let you browse for files/folders, but I had to write my own component for browsing for folders, in order to support Unicode filenames on 2000/XP/Vista while still supporting older Windows versions without Unicode capabilities, and to have some custom functionality.
"Add Folders" dialog starts up with all hard drives, "My Documents" and "Desktop" folders. Then, when user expands any of the nodes, application scans the selected folder for subfolders (at the background). That is a crucial point: subfolders are added in the order at which they appear in the file system. Strange enough, I never noticed that the files would normally appear ordered on Windows XP (and possibly in all other versions starting from Windows 2000), but unordered on older versions of Windows, e.g. '98 - as reported by you.
Just did a quick search on MSDN for more info, found this (MSDN FindNextFile Function):
The order in which the search returns the files, such as alphabetical order, is not guaranteed, and is dependent on the file system. You cannot depend on any specific ordering behaviour. If the data must be sorted, you must do the ordering yourself after obtaining all the results.
I guess I need to sort explicitly, to ensure the ordered list. I will implement this shortly and will post a link for you to test.

Here we go, try this: ReNamerBeta.zip
* Folders in "Add Folders" dialog are explicitly sorted.
