I'm using ReNamer Pro 6.9, Win 10 Home. I mostly open ReNamer by clicking the file I want to name, often downloaded media files with unusual names.
I also have a shortcut on my taskbar set to run ReNamer as administrator. Because I'm encountering strings with new patterns all the time, I'm frequently updating/saving presets, and I may have several instances of elevated and normal ReNamer open at a time. It can be time consuming to save a preset, only to find I was in the non-administrator window.
Is there any way to know if I'm in an administrator, or regular window, in version 6.9? If such a feature is available in a later version, I wouldn't mind paying for an upgrade. This software is indispensable and well worth it.
Thanks.

There is no built-in feature which could help you distinguish elevated and non-elevated instances. You could probably find 3rd party tools which might color the window frame differently or adjust the window title accordingly.
It can be implemented, but it would not fix your issue completely as you would still be able to save a preset from both elevated and non-elevated instances.
What issues do you encounter after saving a preset from elevated/non-elevated instance?

The issue is that presets don't save when in a non-elevated window, only in administer mode. I assume this is by design for a reason.
Normally, I am used to the behavior. However, I frequently do a factory reset of Win 10 and getting ReNamer up and running while still needing to rename many files, brought the situation up front and center. This prompted my post.
After the factory reset though, I noticed this time that I can drag & drop files into the elevated window. I had lost that ability due to previous Win 10 builds, I think. So that's a plus and alleviates my concerns.
Thanks for your reply. It's all good.

That doesn't sound right. Non-elevated instance should be able to save presets, unless the presets directory is write-protected.
Where is your presets directory located? Go to the Main Menu » Presets » Browse.
You should probably check the permissions on that folder.

Thanks for posting that. You're right.
I think the problem was I had been conditioned to think that only non-elevated instances would save. In the past, I must have been working from the Programs folder where I only permitted specific sub-folders, and not ReNamer.
I can't imagine how much more needless workaround I might have been doing. Reminds me to keep considering the obvious.
Glad I checked and thanks for following up.
