Hello learned gentlemen,
I discovered ReNamer some years ago and for a non-coder, it is wonderful to have ways of doing some things Windows doesn't do.
I save email files in my windows folders, and I would like to replace the email address with that person's folder reference.
This works but it is awkward:
Replace/Find box: simon.white@pie.com*|*lily123@aol.de*|*mirek123@hotmail.com
Replace/Replace box: S02*|*L01*|*M03
It's awkward because every time the email addresses are updated, it means typing it in manually (lots of errors), or some complex work in Excel getting a list of email addresses / matched older names arranged in two matching cells to copy into ReNamer.
Is there a way of referring to a list, maybe outside ReNamer, which has columns like this:
simon.white@pie.com S02
lily123@aol.de L01
mirek123@hotmail.com M03
I have spent some hours reading the forums to find a better way of doing this. I note Den4B's comment in this post:
2016-11-22 "ReNamer » make replace multiple items more readable/ better editable"
"Currently, it's not possible to import a list of search and replace couples formatted that way, i.e. find1:replace1, find2:replace2, etc"
Is there any other way of doing this?
Thanks for your help.
Stuart.

Hi Stuart and welcome.
...
Is there a way of referring to a list, maybe outside ReNamer, which has columns like this:

lily123@aol.de L01
mirek123@hotmail.com M03
...
Maybe try the "Translit rule"
http://www.den4b.com/wiki/ReNamer:Rules:Translit
simon.white@pie.com=S02
lily123@aol.de=L01
mirek123@hotmail.com=M03
if that works for your issue.

Thank you Stefan - this works well.
I don't think you guys realise how clever you are - you probably take your know-how for granted!
Thank you so much!
Kind regards,
Stuart.
