Hi den4b,
Error: Invalid pointer operation
Recreation steps in v6.7: -
1) Open and add any file to the lower files area
2) Try to rename the file in the lower grid area to get part of it's name to then use in a new rule
3) Click on the file to enable the rename, click on it once more or press F2
4) The system will return: -
Invalid pointer operation.
Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Cancel to kill the program.
If OK is pressed it loops within the same error trap, Cancel closes the program, this never happened in earlier copies of renamer so if you wanted to pick up part of the file name to use it in a replace statement then it was a quick way of saving another retype and getting the text slightly wrong
Best of luck with the fix.
P.S. I've ran renamer full and portable on an SSD drive and get the same result

Hello,
Thank you for reporting this issue.
It is a known problem. It appears to affect only a small number of computers. We were unable to reproduce it in the development environment, but all signs pointed to a potential incompatibility between the visual components library used in ReNamer and a particular computer configuration.
The goods news... In near future, ReNamer will get migrated to a newer development environment with a newer visual components library, which seems to no longer suffer from this issue - confirmed using the previously affected computers.
In the mean time... To get a part of the filename you can use the Analyze dialog. To apply a manual change to a particular filename you can use a separate Replace rule to replace the whole filename with a modified filename.

This issue should be fixed in ReNamer 7.0.0.1 Beta.
