It looks like the support for Windows 2000 was also dropped. The problem with keeping V5 is that the official list of supported operating systems must be changed to Windows XP/7/8. V5 does not give significant advantages, but takes away Windows 98/Me/2000.

I'm thinking it would be better to revert to v4.8. What do you think?

I reverted back to v4.8.7 and everything is fine now in Windows 98/Me.

The latest development version is available here:

A quick test here confirms that v5.72.1 beta works OK in Windows 98SE.
