I have ReNamer still running and I checked also for the names old and new, but both are not there....
What do you mean? Still with the files in the list? Proably not, but If that is be the case you could select the file and hit Ctrl+Enter (or open the shell menu) to open the containing folder.
I can't imagine what has gone wrong, I've never had this kind of issues.
If you want to try there are some file recovery programs out there (but they are not always capable of recovering everything), search for example for recuva in google.

Hi all,
i tried again and could even reproduce the problem.
Next steps (solution):
Then I set the flag on the folder to only show the hidden files -> no files were shown.
Then I removed the hidden-file flag again and -> all files including the renamed ones are visible.....
Conclusion:
Apparently something with user authorisation is not working within windows operating system.
Thanks all for you support.
Cheers

No there is apparently something wrong about the renaming and the explorer.
situation is as follows:
1. rename files -> files are not visible
2. tick the hidden flag on the explorer -> files are not visible
3. remove the hidden flag in the explorer -> files are visible
By the way: I tried also the undo of ReNamer -> Without success.

I thought that you said that files were simply hidden...
If you right-click on the folder that contained the disappeared files and chose Properties, what do you see in the size field and number of contained files?
Also, in ReNamer, open Filter Settings and select "Include hidden items" and "Include system items". Then, add the same folder to ReNamer. Do you see you files?
